About Steven A. Miner II
Steven A. Miner II is the principal partner at The Miner Law Firm based in Barrington, Illinois. Steven predominantly practices in five counties; Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, and Kane. Additionally, Steven is licensed to practice in Federal Court in the Northern District of Illinois.
From very early on in his childhood, Steven can remember playing “Bozo Buckets” in the hallway between the courtrooms and the Judge’s chambers the Daley Center, which is the main courthouse in Cook County. Most children were never allowed to be in a courtroom but Steven’s father saw to it that he got to experience the ebbs and flow of the courtroom to help groom Steven for success within the study and practice of law.
When Steven became a bit older, he was able to realize just exactly the positive impact that his father had on other people’s lives when they were facing a problem and it was then that he realized that being an attorney was what he wanted to do. Steven has always been someone who is happy to take a position and happy to defend said position and advocate for something that he believes in. Steven takes great pride in standing up for others and doing what’s right, even when no one else is willing to do so.
Steven attended the University of Illinois at Chicago from 2006 to 2009 where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Philosophy. Shortly thereafter, Steven attended the John Marshall Law School in Chicago from 2010 to 2012 where he graduated and received his Juris Doctor.
After completing his Bachelor’s degree and while studying for his J.D., Steven was given more responsibility at his father’s firm such as doing research, reviewing documents, and organizing discovery. Developing these skills helped Steven learn how to prepare his own cases as an attorney and provided him with lessons that many of his peers and colleagues would not learn until they were practicing lawyers. As a result of this preparation, once Steven began law school, many judges were more apt to allowing him to come back into pretrial conferences and attend meetings with the attorneys.
One of Steven’s favorite parts of his career is that not only is he able to help people but he is able to continually learn new aspects about his career path. As the law is always changing, Steven finds that he enjoys staying abreast of those changes.
